CAAC is dedicated to helping you with the heat, electricity and water systems in your home. Our Utility Assistance services offer opportunities for Allegan County residents to lower monthly bills, learn how to become energy-efficient, and more. We offer many different services to fit your energy and water needs! Please contact us directly to see if you are eligible to participate in our services.
The first step to receive assistance is to apply for State Emergency Relief (SER) assistance at newmibridges.michigan.gov. CAAC has navigators that are able to navigate them through the process of application and creating an account if they require it, as their navigator we can access their benefit decision notices while on the phone with the client or with the client in person. Applying for State Emergency Relief ensures that you are maximizing the amount of assistance possible.
We have listed below what you will need to bring in to an appointment. Give us a call to schedule a time, and we’re happy to help you. We can make a faster determination when you come in prepared, which also saves extra time. We encourage you to prepare these documents ahead of the appointment. We do our very best to help families in Allegan County and hope to serve you also.
Households needing assistance should have the following items before completing the application:
At least one month behind on utility bill
Photo identification
Social Security numbers for all household members
Proof of income for the entire household
Funding is currently available for: Deliverable Fuel, Water, Electric, and Natural Gas
