Gun Lake December 2020 Donation

Gun Lake Tribe Donates $14,000 to Community Action of Allegan County

(Bradley, Mich.) — Today, the Gun Lake Tribe (Tribe) announced a local donation to Community Action of Allegan County in the amount of $14,339.42.

“The Tribe and its citizens are very pleased to help charitable organizations like Community Action achieve their mission of helping those less fortunate,” said John Shagonaby, Governmental Affairs Officer. “Charitable work is even more important during economic crisis brought on by the global pandemic.”

The donation was made pursuant to a legal agreement to direct unclaimed or forfeited funds left at the Gun Lake Casino to non-profit organizations or charities. The Tribe selects which charitable organizations receive the funds.

“Many area residents are facing new and significant hardships this holiday season due to high rates of unemployment, utility bills, possible eviction, as well as food insecurity. The burdens of the pandemic, and unemployment benefits potentially expiring later this month are major challenges facing families in Allegan County. We thank the Tribe for its support and kindness in helping us help others,” said Lisa M. Evans, Executive Director, Community Action of Allegan County.
