For more than fifty years Community Action of Allegan County (CAAC) has provided services to eliminate the conditions of poverty and support self-reliance. The foundation of their mission is Hope … Help and Change for Allegan County families. With help from staff, volunteers and community partners the families they serve work to find hope for a better tomorrow and a path out of poverty. Last year alone, CAAC provided 134,137 basic need support to assist individuals and families in achieving stability and self-sufficiency. Services are vast and designed to empower the families they serve. Services include:
- The weatherization of homes to be more energy efficient
- Preschool and education for children ages 0-5
- Food commodities and distribution for low-income families and seniors
- Transportation and home-delivered meals for seniors
- Utility assistance
- Training and employee opportunities within the construction industry for young adults
To serve their mission, CAAC, the largest private non-profit organization addressing poverty in Allegan County, is hosting its Second Annual Hearts and Hands Celebration to raise funds for the variety of programming the organization offers.
This year’s Hearts and Hands Celebration will take place on Thursday, October 25th at the Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck.
The event begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 9:00 pm. Heavy Hors-d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. Business casual attire is encouraged.
The evening will feature community partner recognition, a silent auction and the opportunity to support Community Action’s work. Attendees and supporters of the organization have the opportunity to assist families striving to achieve a better life. The organization anticipates 150 attendees, including business and community leaders, elected officials, program partners and supporters. Sponsorship opportunities are still available ranging from the $250 level to $1,000 level. Tickets are also available for purchase at $35 a person or $60 a couple.
